Bio

Robert Henry Halfon (/ˈhælfɒn/; born 22 March 1969) is a British Conservative Party politician, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Harlow since 2010.

Halfon was formerly a researcher for Conservative MPs, including as Chief of Staff to Shadow Chancellor of the Exchequer Oliver Letwin. He was also the political director of Conservative Friends of Israel. He was elected to the British House of Commons for Harlow at the 2010 general election. He was re-elected in 2015, 2017, and 2019.

Halfon attended Prime Minister David Cameron's Cabinet from May 2015 and July 2016 as Minister without portfolio and Deputy Chairman of the Conservative Party. He served in Prime Minister Theresa May's government as Minister of State for Skills at the Department for Education from July 2016 to June 2017. After returning to the backbenches, Halfon has chaired the House of Commons Education Select Committee since July 2017.
