Remain a member of the EU
Do you want the UK to remain a member of the EU to take advantage of the Single Market?
Alliance Party "Being a member of the EU also allows us to overcome our “small wee country” attitude and turn Northern Ireland into an outward and open-minded place, ready to play a bigger role in world affairs." Source: Alliance 2014 Euro Manifesto.
Conservative "Only the Conservatives can deliver real change in Europe. We will renegotiate Britain's membership then hold an in-out referendum for the British people to decide our future in Europe." Source: Conservative Party, https://www.conservatives.com/landing_pages/european_election.aspx
Green Party The Green Party supports European co-operation on Green lines, as set out in our Vision for Europe. So long as the UK remains a member of the EU, The Green Party will campaign and support negotiations to achieve any improvements in the EU which are possible. Labour We recognise that the strategic opportunities are changing but the constraints endure — the finite nature of our military capacity and the need to continually renew our bilateral and multilateral relationships with key players around the world. Being a part of Europe can help us to overcome some of these constraints. Source: Labour Euro Manifesto
Liberal Democrat The Labour Party would "remain a full and committed member of the EU, so we can play a key role in shaping the rules of the Single Market and so we can work to boost our global trade, tackle cross border crime and address environmental threats." Source: Labour Party Website
Plaid Cymru "Being a part of the EU has brought great advantages to Wales. Between 2007 and 2013, we received up to £2 billion for regeneration schemes in Wales. So far, more than 28,000 businesses and more than a quarter of a million people in Wales have been helped by European funding. Plaid will continue to fight for transitional European financial support to continue after 2013." Source: Plaid Cymru, http://www.partyof.wales/international-affairs/
Respect Party The Respect Party would campaign to remain a part of Europe. The party claims that it is a pro-Europe party, but not while the EU is in its present form, claiming that the EU is an 'undemocratic plutocracy, a bankers' Europe'. It will campaign for a more democratic and inclusive union where Britain will be a central part of Europe. Source: http://www.respectparty.org/national/immigration/
SNP "An in/out referendum on EU membership in 2017 now seems inevitable - almost regardless of who wins the general election next May. We also know from a range of polling evidence - including detailed academic analysis published last week - that it is entirely possible that the UK as a whole could vote to exit the EU, but that Scotland would vote to stay. I don't think the EU is perfect. Far from it. It badly needs change and reform. But I do believe - strongly - that our interests are best served by being in, not out, of the EU." UKIP "UKIP believes in Britain becoming a democratic, self-governing country once again. This can only be achieved by getting our nation out of the European Union and reasserting the sovereignty of Parliament." Source: UKIP Website, http://www.ukip.org/issues
