Overview
The Maritime and Coastguard Agency is an Executive Agency of the DfT. It provides a 24-hour maritime search and rescue service; enforces ship safety, prevents pollution, promotes seafarer health, safety and welfare standards by survey and inspection; registers and certificates ships and seafarers; and manages pollution prevention and response.
Established on 1 April 1998.
